Design Thinking : Integrating Innovation into Everyday Product Design

In today's blog, I will guide everyone to explore in depth how I integrate innovative thinking into the product design process, thereby improving the quality and market competitiveness of the design.

"Innovation is not only about creating new things, but also a method of thinking and solving problems." - William Hsu

Simplehuman : Rethinking Trash Can Design

At Simplehuman, I understood that we would face the challenge of continually shrinking modern home spaces in the future, so I designed a slim plastic trash can. This design allows the trash can to be more conveniently placed in narrow spaces. After research, the most common and easily damaged part is the foot pedal, usually made of plastic in combination with a plastic bin. Therefore, for the appearance, I improved the trash can's foot pedal design and chose durable stainless steel material. This enhances durability and provides users with a sense of product quality. Additionally, I made a unique stackable design for the shape of the bin, significantly reducing transportation costs and thus making the product more price-competitive in the market.

Reborn:Innovative Design of Pet Beds

In Reborn, I innovated on the market's everyday problems with pet beds. By using bar-shaped stainless steel as the base of the bed and a gap design to increase breathability, the pet bed I designed reduces odor accumulation. It also provides a comfortable, easy-to-clean pet resting space through a memory foam pad. In summer, the stainless steel base can also be used as a cooling pad, ensuring the product can be used throughout the year. Such a design greatly enhances the product's practical value and market appeal.

1More Acoustics : Design Innovation through Cross-Cultural Collaboration

As the Design Director at 1More, I introduced a collaboration with a Nordic design team, bringing a new perspective to our products and enhancing our team's innovative capabilities. This cross-cultural exchange fostered a global mindset in product design and helped create products that have an international vision and resonate emotionally with users.

From practical trash bins to comfortable pet beds and acoustical products with an international perspective, my design career has demonstrated a commitment to innovative thinking and a deep understanding of user experience. Each project represents a thoughtful consideration of functionality, durability, and aesthetics.
